My how time flies

It all seems so long ago now. 4 years ago I headed to Qatar to do my bit for the war on terror. A bunch of us, evenly split between military and civilian, deployed to a tent city on a bare base to work on an important project. We got it done in record time working over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. It was hot during the day and coolish at night. We had a daily ration of 3 beers and plenty of military chow. There were people in theater a lot worse off than us, so we didn't complain. I took this picture on the way to chow in the morning. Qatar is on a peninsula that juts out into the Persian Gulf and it can get quite foggy at times. There were three of our compatriots walking ahead of us, lieutenants all, approaching the sandbag, concrete and gravel bunkers located between each row of tents.
